So my second platoon for Colours 2013 painting challenge is finished. I went for a platoon of M10's to mixed things up a bit after painting the US Infantry Platoon.
I used the painting style I have used on most of my US Tanks so far. Basically I basecoat the whole model Violet Brown and a dry brush the of Green Grey. I then use a pen to black line everything followed by picking out details, decals and finally weathering.
Next up I have a Heavy Weapons Platoon and a 155m Artillery Platoon on the painting desk so we'll see what I'm in the mood for next.
As always thanks for reading and until next time
Ben
Like your stuff! The painting is ACE! Looking forward to see the other stuff painted as well.
ReplyDeleteVery nicely painted.
ReplyDeleteThe lining with the black pen always adds so much to any model and these are no exception! Now go destroy some Panzers!
ReplyDeleteThose look great! If you don't mind, where did you get the cloud background for your pictures?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words guys.
Delete@ Locker - I'm not 100% sure where I got it but it was from a model railway shop online. If you look up model railway back grounds you should find something similar.
@ Mr.T - Yeah I do love the way the black lining works. I just got some thinner ones for my next project, I'll be interested to see how they turn out. Oh and Don't worry, I'm planning on killing lots of Panzers, especially Adam's Panzers! ;-)
Thanks Ben
Bring it on Ben, my panzer's ain't scared!
DeleteHave you tried pin washing with oil paints? I only ask because you can get a similar effect much faster over a whole platoon.
DeleteWhere did you get your new pens?
ReplyDeleteHi Mr.T
DeleteI get the pens from http://www.tigerpens.co.uk/acatalog/Faber-Castell-Pitt-Artist-Pen-Nib-Tip.html
I have been using the S size pen, but I'll just got XS size for my next army. I just worry they might a little too thin.
Thanks Ben
Very nice job; the dreaded WW2 'teleport' troops!
ReplyDeleteThey look great Ben, I like the way the jeep windscreen looks how did you do it ?. Cheers Aled
ReplyDeleteThanks Aled
DeleteIt's quite simple really, I start with a really dark blue (I think I use one of the old GW Blues), then add white until you get to almost pure white.
The trick is the final straight line across the screen, it really sets the effect off.
Ben
Did you buy your security section separately?
ReplyDeleteYes, in fact I also go the winter crew blister to keep the theme.
