Giving Up Infantry For Lent!

Welcome to the first ever ramble by Jersey, normally the sort of post Adam brings to the blog, looking at branching out away from the infantry lists and platoons that dominated my tactics and games over my first year in the hobby. This was written before Battlefront explained their schedule for 2015... the project I propose in this blog will be started after Brown Water Navy, which I'm very excited about but hopefully the sentiment is of use for those of you stuck in a "rut" with an army which you want to escape!

After playing Flames of War for a year, I’ve collected and finished painting two armies; a huge Italian infantry army with tanks and guns for three periods and a PAVN Local Forces Company for Vietnam games. At the start of the year I set myself a challenge in the form of New Year’s resolutions to finish companies from four different time periods and four different company types and if possible, use them at events. The last few units of PAVN were finished after this promise so count as Infantry and Vietnam time periods… now I just need something new!

Hi everyone (James here):

A year ago, Ben and I started 1250 point Vietnam army projects and recently we both completed them. If you like ‘Nam then you've probably seen Ben’s Americans and a post I put up at the start of the project as both appeared on the Battlefront website too and can be found here searching under Vietnam tags but I've been lax on doing posts as I've painted so here… is the finished force!

New Years Resolutions

Hello All

Firstly Happy New Year to you all, may 2015 be a great year. Like we did in 2014 a new year means it's time for new year resolutions! With all the new guys on the blog this year we decided to reduce the number resolutions a little. We all picked one resolution for ourselves, then got two from the group and had to come up with one blog focused resolution. In hindsight a few of last years resolutions were a little, well, weak, so if we felt any weren't up to scratch then the group made it a little harder.

So lets see this years offering.

Beyond The Foxholes Episode 7 - Christmas Special

Welcome to Beyond the Foxholes Episode 7, the Christmas Special.

Today we are joined by Ben, Adam, Winner Dave and Alex in the first Beyond the Foxholes Christmas Special.

In Part One - The Guys talk about what they have been up to, up coming Tournaments and a lot of other random topics.

In Part Two - The Ben and Alex have a quick AAR on Reading, the Guys talk about Battlefront Plastics, Red Bear and Desperate Measures. Then round off the episode with a look about on 2013's New Years Resolutions, make their 2014 Resolutions and then talk about their plans for 2014.

New Year Resolutions... Oh My!

Hello All

Firstly Happy New Year to you all, may 2013 be a great year. So a new year means it's time for new year resolutions! Lets see how well we do (being wargamers I bet we don't do well.....). 

Me (aka Ben)

So my goals this year are simple, keep focused and lets try and now waste money on models I will never use or paint! So here is my list:-

• Paint at least one platoon for my US army a month.
• Finish TOTWG challenge with Adam and get a Battle of the Bugle campaign started.
• Go to at least 5 FOW tournaments/events this year
• Play 52 games of FOW this year
• Not to start any new FOW armies.
• And the big one... I will only buy models for one new game system this year.

Winner Dave (aka Coopers)

• Paint a platoon a month
• On the gaming front I aim to play at least 3 times a month.
• Create snow gaming board (Have drawn plans for it)
• Attend a tournament
• Complete a brand new tank company (haven't decided nationality yet)
• Play someone I've never played before.
• Beat Adam

Adam (aka Doctor Cox)

Finish my ToWG army and start and finish a campaign with Ben
• Paint at least one axis unit a month, with the aim by the end of 2013 to have axis forces for infantry, mech and armour 
• Update my allied forces, the first of these will be my Para list
• Play more tournaments - really enjoyed my first one.
• Beat Dave so hard he rage-quits and takes up Dystopian Wars
