Centurion Challenge - April - June Update

Hey folks!

Wow what a busy few months I've had! Lots of games - it's been very fun indeed! Want to see how I got on...?

At the end of my last update in March I was preparing my early war Germans for Art of War, however unfortunately my wife had suffered a fairly serious back injury just days before the event and was taken into hospital. Of course the toy soldiers had to be put on the backburner and as such I had to miss the event. Big thanks to Steve Charlton for his support and offering me free admission for next years comp following my drop out and also another big thankyou to all of you guys who have been so supportive over the past few weeks.

Hello everyone,

March was relatively quiet on the gaming front by my recent standards - I only managed 8 games! This means that I have now completed 40 games of FOW so far this year and well on target to reach 100 before the years up. Given that there were no tournament games I set myself a mini objective to not lose 1-6 throughout the month. Here's how I got on...

So, trust Adam to spoil everything! He beat my Czech Panzers with his Panhards 6-1 and thus ruined my months objective! I was a little unlucky in this game that the defeat was as heavy as it was. I had some of his platoons wittled down quite a bit, but in the end I couldn't inflict enough damage. It was my first game against Adam actually and it was great to see how he plays. He is good at reading the game and seemed to have a highly effective reaction to everything I did! I got my revenge against his Kampfgruppe Piper list in the following games though - a highlight being a single Piat team sneaking up on his lone King Tiger in an assault and blowing it to smithereens!

The FOW Centurion Challenge - January's Update

Hi folks!

I'm pumped and motivated - It's been a very solid start to this challenge indeed! 12 games in already and we are only at the end of January! So far so good... BUT... I have to say that I have had some real shocker performances at times it has to be said. To the point where I even felt the need to apologise to a couple of my opponents for not being able to offer a remotely decent contest oops! Playing late war British armour has proven quite a test for someone who has predominately played Finnish and German infantry until this point as well. Nevertheless I am not going to take the shameful errors to heart, the good times will come. 'Just gotta keep on swimming, just keep swimming'! (I have had to watch a lot of Disney lately in case you were wondering how Finding Nemo has made its way onto a Flames of War article!)
