The Road to Corrivalry, Ben's 2nd ID (Yes them again!)

Hello All,

If you tuned in for the last Podcast you will know the biggest (and one of the best) FoW tournament in the UK takes place next weekend, Corrivalry. This event marks the beginning of the tournament scene for 2015 (they come fast and furious after this, including Breakthrough Assault III in a months time).
So after last years less than glorious performance with my Matilda horde I decided to go back to an old favourite of mine- US Infantry. I had already done a fair amount of the infantry for my US Armoured rifles but I needed to bulk my collection to turn the Armoured Rifle platoons into Rifle Platoons,
So the plan seemed simple.... well at least on paper, but I had one big problem. Like Adam before last years Corrivalry I couldn't decide on a list. Adam kept jumping between different Commonwealth lists, Canadians, Welsh, British, etc. Well I kept jumping from different books and Divisions. I covered almost everything from the night attacking 8th ID, 2nd ID from Overlord, 99th from Devils Charge.... the list goes on. Add to this I think I spent a good 10 hours on the phone to WWPD Luke about different list and I think you get the idea of how much I thought about this.
Finally I decided the best way to work it out was to play a few games and I started off with the 2nd ID from Overlord and well the results were less than overwhelming, I think the list is the right choice going forward as it had good mobility, artillery and 11 platoons (all trained of course) but for me right now I knew I wouldn't get the practice I needed to get to grips with the list before the event, so I went for the safe option and 2nd ID from Devils Charge.

One of the interesting things about Corrivalry is that you can take two lists (they must have the same core but are allowed to be 450pts different). Below is my list A, this is for mobile battles and when I have to attack.

My list A is the same bar I drop the Trained M10's for another platoon of Veteran Towed TD's and I add a supply truck to the Pioneer platoon. This will be my defensive list. I feel happy with the lists, I would have liked to have got to 9 platoons but you can't have everything! But I hope this will emulate my success with my Nuts US Paras at Corrivalry 2013 (well I wouldn't mind doing slightly better).

Thanks for reading and until next time

Ben
