A tale of one broke gamer...Part 2
Hello and welcome to me (Winner Dave) continuning to be a tight git :)
For part two of one broke gamer, I decided it was time to truly leave the Warhammer 40k world behind. So I sold my Eldar Codex, Rule book, Templates, a box of half painted planetary empires and these...
A random Space Marine Chaplain I had lying around

Volksgrenadiers Infantry Guns - IG37 and HMG's
Hi all
Dr Cox again I've another 2 units for you this week, first up my HMG's.
As you can see my Volksgrenadiers are coming on, one of the units I think almost any infantry army can benefit from is HMG's.

AAR - Schwerepanzerjager vs 11th Armoured - Fighting Withdrawal
With my on going attempts to understand the Schwerepanzerjager I arranged a game against Ben. I always enjoy playing Ben as they're always close games, and I think my sweetest ever wargaming victory at a tournament was against him (and I feel he's still bitter about it!). At first we rolled up Free For All, but as Ben has played 3 Free for Alls in his last 4 games and I had played it a fair bit to we re rolled and got Fighting Withdrawl. To keep the winter theme for my army and the board Ben was using some US units so it would look a little better. The other nice thing is to actually use these guys against a tank army - not managed that so far! |

Tale of Winter Gamers - US Paras - Final Report
Hi All
So this is my last TOTWG post, I have painted everything I wanted to paint for the challenge and so I'm surprisingly in the position that I have finished something early (very unlike me)! Adam is going to contuine on for another month as he still has a few things he wants to paint. Quite honestly I'm surprised with how well this has gone! Most of you out there have probably taken part in some sort of Tale of X Number of Gamers and I dare say 90% them never get finished, let alone finished ahead of schedule with painted armies!
Also for myself it is ending now takes a lot of pressure off of me with my other projects. I have 2 armies I'm painting up for tournaments in May and June (my Market Garden Paras and My Mid War Fins), I'm also dabbling in Vietnam and I'm struggling to find enough hours in the day!

Review of Commission Figurines' Bases
Over a game, Ben and I were having a conversation about the Russian Mixed Tank Company I'm currently constructing.
I explained that I was thinking of buying a load of bases and pre-etched plati-card, then gluing the plasti-card to the bases.
Ben then very kindly pointed me in the direction of these guys... http://www.commission-figurines.co.uk/ and suggested I contact them to see if they would make them for me.
I did and they would...
I have to say they are one of the friendliest companies I've ever dealt with, I gave them my requirements, 40 bases, large FOW size, pre-etched in a cobblestone pattern. They gave me a price...£10. Oh yeah baby, I was very happy to pay that and sort of wish I'd ordered twice the amount.
They made it clear that they can etch other patterns like paving stones etc, which I'm also tempted by.
Turn around was super quick and I received emails telling me when I could expect to receive them. Also they double checked with me that the cobblestones were going to be small, smaller than a figure's foot. They weren't wrong.
Just look at these bad boys...

Plastic Soldier Company T-70 Review
Hello
Winner Dave here, with my latest toy...
As mentioned in my previous post "One Broke Gamer", I bought some plastic soldier company T-70s with the proceeds of some eBay sales.
I'm doing a mixed Tankovy Company list from Eastern Front put together by Ben.

Tour of Duty FW901 - Review
Hello All
So over the weekend I caved in and bought the new Tour of Duty Flames of War Vietnam book. I had decided that I wasn't going to get into the period, but as an obsessiveness compulsive collector I thought I'd need (and yes it is a need!) the book to complete my Flames of War Book collection. So after a few reads through and a little comparison to Tropic Lightning I thought I'd do a little review of the book.

List Discussion - Schwerepanzerjager - for when you need to absolutely kill the enemies tank!
Good morning everyone!
these we're a present from the ever loveable Ben at Christmas to me.
At the time I was a little stuck on how to use them, as they seemed 'too much gun' for my local environment, and the only list I could find for them as core had them as unreliable, but Bridge by Bridge sorted that out with the Schwerepanzerjager company.

A tale of one broke gamer...
Hey guys, winner Dave here.
One of my new years resolutions was to do a tank company and you may remember Ben doing a poll about which mid war army he should collect next.
Well, I was pleased when the result was Finnish infantry as that meant I could make the Russian tank list for myself.
Also, if you follow our blog regularly you'll know Ben and Adam are currently engaged in a tale of two winter gamers. I would have loved to be included in this project, but unfortunately my pocket money just doesn't stretch that far.
Hence, my own little parody...
I stopped being interested in 40k, when finecast came out, quite frankly I think it sucks and is quite expensive, plus our interest in all things flames of war took off. However I have a few odds and ends knocking around and thought it was time I put them to good use. Also I kinda miss painting the larger scale brightly colour models that are 40k.

Volksgrenadiers - Pioneers
Hello
So I have another unit of Winter Germans for you to enjoy!
So I have another unit of Winter Germans for you to enjoy!
Having
had lots of experience with British para's one of the army types I hate
playing is a fortified list. Due to all the obstacles I've really begun
to appreciate pioneers, hence I got them for my Volksgrenadiers.

US Paratrooper for Market Garden - Mortars
Hello All
Ben here with a painting update, this time for my my for 101st Airborne Market Garden army.
I have added a platoon of Mortars to give my force some artillery and smoke to the army. As all the models were the same I mixed up the 3rd crew man with some spare models from other platoons.
