Hi everyone,  Thought I’d bring you a nice exciting little AAR between myself and my Paul. I was feeling like trying a list I've not used in a while so took the Canadian Armoured Recce list from Market Garden (really liked the idea of having some sneaky Shermans).  Paul was experimenting with a list from Desperate Measures, taking some veteran Panzers. We rolled up for a mission and got Cauldron with Paul as the attacker.

Rule Britannia! Reflections on Collecting My British Canadians & Welsh

So about 6 months ago I did my first post on my late war British (the guards armoured box) and l'm now waiting for the dip to dry so I can add decals and varnish to the last model I have for the list (a 5th Sherman crab).

Looking back at starting collecting this army, it was very impulsive. After the Germans had finished - and as by the end I was a little bored! I thought something small and fast and fun - like the Cromwells would be good for me. As I mentioned in a previous article though I'm not very good at small projects.

So this is one of those articles which I write to try and really think about how I develop a list and use it effectively. I'll start by saying that every theory I have when it meets an enemy list fails horribly, and I normally have quite an iterative process to how I develop a list, try a tweak here and there my Jagdpanther list is an example of this. Today though I look at my Canadians and how I progress from my pre Oxford ideas to where I am now.

Universal carriers and Wasps

Hello All

Adam here with my next unit I've done are the tiny universal carriers, and there related unit, wasps.

These guys are a one piece hull, with the crew coming separate, to paint this I did the hull as I do all my tanks and then did the crew separately - I was relatively pleased until I found out that the crew attached to the MG on the carriers just didn't fit smoothly into the socket on the front of the carrier which was a bit irritating.

Doing a post on shermans feels slightly stupid! I would guess that almost all FoW players have played against them, and almost all probably have one kicking around somewhere! They are so ubiquitous appearing in MW and LW with many variants and employed by many different forces.

AAR Canadian Rifles vs KG Spindler - Free for All

So welcome again to another exciting game of Flames of war.

This one was fought between myself and Toby, we'd both got upcoming events and were keen to try out list, he was off to a Market garden themed event so was choosing a German force.This was the first outing the canadian rifles had and getting to grips with them took a bit of time.

I thought I’d look at the two units which are quintessentially Canadian first of all, Ram Kangaroos and Landmattress’s. There are some lovely articles on the FoW website detailing the history of both of these unusual units, and I found as I read them I really was quite inspired to crack on with both of the units – that and a deadline also helped!

Overlord and Atlantik Wall - Spoilers and Book Overview

Hello All,

With the new D-Day books turning up on my door set on Friday morning, I thought it would be a good idea to write a little review and quick overview of the books. This is not going to be the most detailed overview of the lists as the books are massive and I'm sure there will be a load of little gems and changes that we will find as we use the books over the next few months.

So a quick review of the books. Firstly as I have said able they are massive! Overlord is 300 pages and Atlankic Wall is 240 pages, this compares 240 and 216 pages that the previous two were. Secondly I was surprised by how different the books looked from the old two, I was expecting the core of the books to look the same with a few pages added in, not the case at all. Yes a few pictures and background pieces are copied and pasted from Earth and Steel, Turning Tide or even the older individual books, but a lot of it has changed and looks new and fresh.

So another Saturday evening, and another titanic fight between myself and Winner Dave. I felt like returning to my Canadian’s and more importantly trying something new, for this I decided to try the new Armoured recce, they looked an interesting beast to tackle, with the potential to be very very hard to hit!
