Breakthrough Assault Early War One Dayer AAR

Hello all

On the 11th Janurary we held a one day tournament at Entoyment, 16 players come to what was for most of use the first tournament of the year.

The event was 1550pts, open with three games, this was the first time any of us had played a tournament with the new Barbarossa book and we were very interested to see what effect that would have on the "meta".

I was trying out T-34's in Early War for the first time, in fact I didn't get a single practice game in... still something it's best just to get thrown in the deep end.

Road to the BTAEWOD

BTAEWOD - Breakthrough Assault Early War One Dayer

Hello all,
Fez here with a quick post on my latest army completion-my Early War Fallschirmjager!
Done - and a week early!
Next weekend is the next one day tournament in Bournemouth, Early War 1550. Not having time to paint up a new army, I decided to revisit and finish off my Luftlandesturm glider borne force. I took two air landing platoons to my first ever tournament at Warfare Reading in 2013, and with my task of getting as high up the rankings as I can (well, at least better than the other new members of BTA) I thought I should cut it back a little, and only have one platoon in gliders:

WWPD Italian Campaign - Fallschirmjäger

I've been looking forward to getting the new Italy books ever since they were announced and even more so when I discovered that the next global campaign run by WWPD would be Italy based.
I'd put my FJs to one side to focus on Soviets lists in Desperate Measures, but now its arrived it's time to lightly dust off the FJs.

The number of options is certainly good, and now I can run an Italy list with with the LW German player's essential PanzerFausts (don't leave home without one).

If it wasn't for the upcoming global campaign, I think I'd leave the FJs well alone and keep on playing with Soviet armour...as it is, I've got to make the best of the situation.

Fallschirmjäger Tactica Part I (My Current State of Play)

As my bonus New Year's resolution from the boys, I was given the heady task of writing a tactica for the mighty FJs. Which you can hear on episode 7 of our podcast here

The reason being is that I've been playing FJs for quite some time now, so I should have at least an idea of what i'm talking about right...well I'm not that confident, so I'm splitting this task up into several parts.

Part I, what you are reading now - is my thoughts on an FJ list and why I've been building it.

Part II, will be later in the year, there's so much happening to alter the FJ play style (Proliferation in Soviet tank hordes and new Italy books to name two big ones)

Part III, will be later still and will summarise my learning throughout the year.

AAR – Welsh Guards vs FJ’s – Road Block.

Hello All

Welcome once again to another exciting AAR. Once again I'm up against Winner’s FJ’s – but we thought we'd take a different approach to this game. For a start we're playing the mission ‘Road Block’ this was in the Wargames Illustrated back in September I think, but with it being a possibility at Corrivalry in February and also a nice different mission, we thought we'd give it a go.

We'd agreed before hand to slightly theme our forces, and also to pick matching armies, so I returned to my Welsh Guards and Dave went for Von de Heytes FJ’s.

Oxford Pairs Doubles Tournament - AAR and Photodump

Hey everyone,

just got back from Oxford pairs, thought we'd share some photos from the event.

The upcoming podcast will have our 'full' (if tired/hungover) review of the event which will be up shortly. Hopefully this will give you an idea of how it all ended up.

Flak 88s for my FJ army

Apart from the awesome games and the opportunity to meet like minded people, tournaments really help me get my painting done.

For colours I had to borrow some Flak 88s, however as Ben's replacement for pairs I was determined to take all my own miniatures.

In preparation for Oxford pairs, I need to finish third platoon and my Flak88s. Once done, that'll be it for my Fallshirmjager...

Fallschirmjäger Artillery

Good afternoon fellow gamers.

If you listen to our podcast, you'll know that I had chickened out of going to the FOW tournament held at the Colours convention in Newbury.  One of the reasons for my not going was because I knew I wouldn't be able to field an army I wanted and would instead be taking what I had.

In the end I was persuaded to go by all the awesome guys in Bournemouth/Poole, my wife cancelled her run, the guys said I could borrow what I needed and so I ended up going.
