In Act Two the guys chat about the Euro GT, Adam and Winner give their AAR's and the guys think about how to improve the tournament going forward.

  1. Great commentary on how to deal with the heavy tanks. In particular, I thought that the idea of night attacking Soviet heavy tanks was particularly clever.

However, it was a shame that you didn't do a discussion on the "lite" like T-28s in EW and LW heavy tanks like the Churchill and Brumbar. These tanks are often underestimated (maybe not the Brumbar, those are a bit useless).

However, they pack almost the same amount of armour as a heavy tank and a gun that's good enough to kill medium tanks. This gives a significant points reduction that lets you field more. As you said in your episode, heavy tanks shouldn't be fighting other heavy tanks so the lack of a big gun isn't a problem.

So as long as you've got some high end AT elsewhere, "lite" heavy tanks such as LW KVs and Churchills (especially the lates) are more dangerous than the super heavies because of their greater numbers and ability to take more support.

    1. Hi John. thanks for the kind words.

You are right I guess we probably should have covered Churchill's, I guess I thought of them in LW like Panthers which is there is enough to deal with them that they aren't the beasts of the era like the LW KT's or EW KV-1's.

  2. Nice episode. I am tempted to try some Panthers out as I have been noticing more tanks at tournaments. Panthers are fantastic against medium tanks. They are just such a point sink against infantry armies, artillery, and airplanes. I'm tempted to go all Panzer IVs (except I don't want to buy and paint any more!). Thanks for the kind words about my blog as well. I'm a big fan of breakthrough assault so the love is mutual. I really enjoy the podcasts and your articles.
