The second to the fifth are full of land naval and air scenarios. With the 82nd Airborne playing a support role to the Coldstream guards. Hms navy with others facing the soviets. If it's going to be a classic "barbaric hordes of untrained crazy Russians" again the game will win my personal "wargaming failure of the decade" rewardAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-504019008093553470.post-56383601492245560862015-10-31T22:23:43.863+00:002015-10-31T22:23:43.863+00:00If my opponent expect to find hordes he will b dis...If my opponent expect to find hordes he will b disappointed, I plan to go heavy on expensive BMP-2 motostrelky with many support units and use only a few T-72 as chep support, perhaps to bait the enemies to take shots at them who have more armor while I strike their armor with ATGM's, or use them to pound enemy infantry in cover. All in all I expect the number of miniatures on the able will be rather similar on each side. Unless my enemy is heavy on using only M1's in which case they will be ill equipped to deal with the infantry.Marcelo Hernan Gonzalezhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16991531374443195957noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-504019008093553470.post-28761175490620761242015-10-30T02:41:44.903+00:002015-10-30T02:41:44.903+00:00Another couple of books with a twist during this e...Another couple of books with a twist during this eta are Harold Coyle The 10,000 and Larry Bond's Cauldron. Soviets attack thru post-Shah Iran to secure warm water port, US counters, Iranians attack both, with a rogue nuke floating around.

Looking forward to the games release, especially the M163 Vulcan!

@TTFix No doubt. Tm Yankee is however fiction and I believe that Coyle had no illusions regarding Warsaw Pac capabilities! However, I don't think a book that accurately depicted a clash between the NATO Vs. WarPac would have sold very well, especially over here in the 'ol USofA. It's awful 1980s propaganda, written by somebody who didn't have a lot of knowledge about training and abilities of the Red Army (no surprise considering it has been written before the fall of the USSR). The US casulaties are basically nil while they destroy regiment after regiment of Soviets. Every engagement is best case scenario for NATO and worst case for WarPac. "Characters" are boring. Action is boring. Book is boring.

Nevertheless, I recomment Red Storm Rising, it's actually quite good. Red Thrust is most likely the best oneout of the bunch, but sometimes a little hard to get.
Tabletop Fixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12421763824037425323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-504019008093553470.post-18365957762616895832015-10-26T09:13:05.742+00:002015-10-26T09:13:05.742+00:00Yep top post mate! It is slightly off topic as it is set in Korea but it really could have been Europe in 1982 given the equipment and protagonists. It is a cracking novel too and IMO Larry Bonds' best.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-504019008093553470.post-39043600874720665762015-10-25T21:26:09.940+00:002015-10-25T21:26:09.940+00:00Great post!
